Jason graduated from Wabash College Magna Cum Laude / Phi Beta Kappa in 1997, where he was the Moot Court Top Advocate, managing editor of The Bachelor, and received the David Peck Jr medal and the James Bingham Award.

Jason graduated from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, IN and was admitted to the Indiana bar in 2000, where he spent one year with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLP as a corporate tax consultant before clerking for the Honorable Don Ash of the Tennessee Court of Appeals, and then embarking on a career focusing exclusively on a criminal defense. Jason founded Jackson Law Office in 2002, followed by Defend Indiana, LLC in 2023.
